I'm pissed at my parents because they won't stop bitching at me because it is somehow my fault my fat ass grandmother stepped on my glasses which were an inch from my body). Worst part? I can't even drive anywhere because my fucking Trans Ams fucking exhaust is falling the fuck off. A new system is $500, I can't spend $500. Fuck me right? I'm just so pissed off and stressed right now. Cue mental breakdown.

I did once. My exhaust is now only hanging on by the bolts from the headers to the main pipes

A shop should be able to stick weld a new hanger on it. Failing that a clamp hanger would do the trick. Check the autoparts stores for them, I know they're out there.

The whole construction of the system I have (ghetto welded by the PO) rubs on the driveshaft, leaks, and dumps out before the axle. None of that is okay. There are no hangers anywhere on the car. For as long as I've owned it the system has been wired in place.

I welded up my own x-pipe with a pre-rear axle dump and two glass packs for like, $150 in materials. I think even with my ceramic coated long-tube headers, the whole system was under $500. Not saying it'd be easy, but it doesn't have to be expensive, especially if you already have the headers.

I can't bend tubes and I am not nearly good enough to weld pipes. I have mufflers, tips, and cutouts. All I need is the pipes cut and welded. All I need is an x pipe. None of the generic stores in town will do a custom swap on a car as new as mine (fuck the year 1981) because company policy. My only option is a custom shop.

Yeah but I fucked the installation of my engine and installed it pointing slightly counterclockwise. I need tubes bent to compensate for my failure or else the pipes will rub the driveshaft and be all off center.

Welding pipes isnt bad. You can get it good enough with a flux core, a MIG, or a TIG. And Summit Racing bends kits yo.

X-Pipe Kit

90 degree Bends

You can part out everything you need from there, then just need a chop saw/sawzaal and a grinder and presto mundo. Custom Exhaust.

Ah, I see.

The best you can do is try to be around big trucks and motorcycles, to mask the noise your car makes. Bonus if it's a Harley :p

I had to do that once when my exhaust had some holes in it.

Duct tape your exhaust until you've got the monies for a new one. And if it still falls off, clearly you're not using enough duct tape!

Screw the mental breakdown thing. It's a waste of time. The only thing going on here is the cage you've created around your own mind for solutions. That's a very real and hard ass thing to deal with, at times. Time to break that cage.*

If it was me (read that twice, with the emphasis on "me") I'd simply find a hack that got my vehicle back on the road, and no one the wiser. I'd know it was hacked some how, some way, and I'd make a promise to myself to fix it lateron, but I wouldn't let it stop me in the now. I find that expressing solutions, no matter how ugly I find them aesthetically, compensates for the short term revulsion I have at having implemented them.

Fix it as you can to make it work. Fix it when you can to be the right thing. Cars, in my opinion, are very forgiving individuals as long as you keep the long term "do the right thing" in mind. (Plays to my basic philosophy that everything in the universe has an inherent need to be appreciated. Cars especially.)

*(Oh, did I mention - the cage door isn't generally locked.)
